BRAIN CAMP

Brain exercises for seniors is not a common phrase, however studies have shown that brain training is important for seniors. Research has shown that brain exercise has long-lasting benefits. Brain training for seniors may seem trivial, howere it is anything but. Recent research has show that brain training for seniors improves awareness, reasoning, memory and other cognitive areas. The goal of Brain Camp is to strenthen our resident's congnitive skills. Cognitive skills are the underlying process the brain goes through to function and the less the brain is used, the more likely the cognitive skills will suffer. Every resident of Autumn Wind can benefit from Brain Camp.

Terms To Know

COGNITIVE SKILLS are any mental skills that are used in the process of acquiring knowledge; these skills include reasoning, perception, and intuition.

NEUROPLASTICITY is the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Neuroplasticity allows the neurons (nerve cells) on the brain to compensate for injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment.  Neuroplasticity is the reason we are never too old to learn something new.
